Colchester, Essex - Timeless, Luxury Bathroom Renovation

Spires Interiors recently renovated this luxury bathroom at a property in the heart of Colchester, Essex, with a stunning freestanding bath, double walk-in shower cubicle, and double vanity unit. With the aim to create a striking balance between traditional and modern features, here’s how we achieved such an amazing result.

The customer came to Spires Interiors looking for a bathroom that was in keeping with the overall feel and style of their property but was not completely traditional, as they were looking for a traditional bathroom with a modern twist. The Spires design team set about coming up with a solution that struck a balance between older-style bathrooms and modern bathrooms, by using the shaker-style units from Utopia’s Roseberry range and combining that with more contemporary features. In this way, we have achieved a bathroom that is striking and modern, but doesn’t detach from the overall aesthetic of the home.

We used several features to achieve this balance. Darker colours for the furniture, brass taps and shower fixings, wall-hung double vanity units with his and hers sinks, as well as simplified geometric floor tiles and metro tiles. These traditional elements were paired with more modern bathroom features, including a motion-sensored toilet and bathroom mirror, adding up to a contemporary room that pays homage to the traditional finishes throughout the house.

We used a more muted colour palette for this bathroom, with mostly two-tone grey and adding splashes of colour with the brassware and the blue in the floor tiles. This adds a lot of character to the bathroom and avoids making the room feel cold with too many muted colours.
